Elevated Calcium and Lithium

Did you know that 1 in 24 people develop elevated calcium while on lithium therapy, usually due to hyperparathyroidism. It is recommended to check calcium level regularly. If elevated, it is also advisable to check a PTH level. If that is elevated, refer/consult an Endocrinologist. Treatment may include Cinacalcet.
